Winter's Notes

Despite the misery, lassitude, and the sheer coldness that winter brings, it is also a time for one to reevaluate one's goals, passions, and commitments and is also the time for one to look back on recollections of the following year.

There has been highs and lows, goods and bads, this quarter. The highlight of winter is the day I crossed that line. Although I would not say it was the best feeling ever, it sure made me feel as I was on top of the world. But I began to apprehend that it may not have been all that its worked up to be. Maybe I was disillusioned by the mere image, nevertheless I had my doubts.

From this experience and others, I learned that people are superficial and that life itself is based on a foundation of dwindling morals and erring natures. As a friend of mine would say, "These peoples! What is is wrong with this world?" As time passed, I thought this more and more, but the sheer thought of believing that the entirety of our world and society has collapsed is hard to grasp. But after endless debate and constant inquiry, I reached the conclusion that "the majority does not represent the individual". That is to say that the majority's actions should not reflect the individual, because I truly believe there are still remnants of good out there in this world. As long as there is vice, there must exist virtue; as "evils" continue to grow, the beneficence of those "virtuous" individuals will be remembered, and hopefully invoke change.

For those who might question the veracity of my comment and my character, I assure you that I am not perfect, and I too have fallen to "temptations". But that is not to say that one can change for the better.

I apologize for the length of this post, but this is the conclusion I have reached during the three months of winter. As we begin to see the blossoming of buds, the return of life, and the coming of spring, we should take some time to recollect our past experiences and to contemplate about our futures.
